Briefly about the upcoming municipal elections in 2021

🕘 Time: June 13 from 9.00 to 20.00

🗺 Location: The address of your polling station is indicated in the letter “Ilmoitus äänioikeudesta kuntavaaleissa”, which you should have already received either by mail or online the suomi.fi (if you haven’t received a physical letter, just check that service). See the section “Äänestysalue sekä vaalipäivän äänestyspaikka”.

☹️ I can’t on Sunday 13:
Vote in advance! From 26.5. Until 8.6.2021, there are 8 preliminary voting points in Vihti. For addresses, see the “Ennakkoäänestys” section of the website https://www.vihti.fi/blog/2021/05/10/kuntavaalit-2021/ Four of the eight polling stations are located in Nummela.

🙋🏻❓ Can I definitely participate?
If you are over 18 and have registered your residence in Vihti before 23 April 2021, you can vote. It is enough to present any photo ID – passport, driver’s license, etc.

🤷🏽‍♂️ I am not a Finnish citizen …
Never mind! If you are not a citizen of an EU member state, but have lived in Finland for 2 years (for any reason), and registered at Vihti before 23 April 2021, vote! And for citizens of the European Union, it is not even necessary to live in Finland for two years.

🙋‍♂️❓ Who are we choosing?
43 representatives and their deputies for the whole Vihti region. It is these people who will organize many of the things that are in every day life: school and preschool education, sports, culture, social services, construction, zoning, transport, healthcare, etc. They will decide how to spend the taxes that we pay to the municipal budget.

🤨 I do not believe that my vote decides something:
Every vote counts! Even if you are sure that your candidate will not gain a sufficient number of votes, he, even without becoming a deputy or deputy, may be invited to work in one of the specialized commissions – on youth issues, construction, etc., and will be able to influence in resolving issues, fulfilling at least part of their election promises.
